Week 1

This is the first week of my lifestyle change.  Make no mistake about it.  This isn't some weight-loss and exercise program to work through, lose a bunch of weight, and then gain it back when I'm done; this is a complete lifestyle change.  It is a change that needs to happen.  Change is never easy, but it is worth it.  Let's face it, I've gotten pretty lazy when it comes to taking care of myself.  You'll never read, or watch me make excuses on video.  What you will see, instead, God willing, is the resolve to make the changes needed in my life to be healthy and strong.  I need to be there for my family, and I can't do that while sitting on the couch, stuffing my pie hole with a Big Mac.

The video below is the first in a series of weekly updates, which will not only allow me to track my own progress, but give my brother Jeff, my family, and anyone who cares to follow this blog the ability to hold me accountable for my actions, or lack of actions on this journey of mine.  A fair warning: the video is quite long.  I'm hoping to keep future videos down to less than 5 minutes, but for some reason, introductions and plans seem to take longer.  For that, I apologize, but I had to get it all of my chest.

Forward

If you found this blog, then you've found my second blog.  My other blog is "James - My Mind Won't Stop."  I've created this second blog to keep track of my weight-loss program, which I started today.

The goal is simple: Lose 100 or more lbs by August, 2013.  The plan is to backpack the entire distance of the Wonderland Trail, around Mt Rainier, in Washington State.  In order to do this, I will need to be in the best shape of my life.  The only way to get there is to follow a weight-loss and exercise plan, which will be laid out in the coming entries.

Each week, I will add a video update, as sort of a way to keep track of my progress, and also provide accountability for myself.  These will show up in updates with the titles of each video corresponding to the week that I'm in.  For instance, I just completed an introduction video, titled Week 1, and it will be in a blog entry under the same title.  This will make it very easy to locate them.

I would like to take this moment to thank my brother Jeff for getting on board with this idea.  He is an inspiration to me and I know that I will need his help in the coming days to get this party started and see it all the way to the end.  Thank you Jeff!
